Scenario:
During a conversation with another minister, Jamie felt attacked. He was feeling a lot of energy, so he asked for time to think about what was shared. The next day, he stepped away for 20 minutes to jot down what he thought was said, and what else he might want to know to wrap his head around this. When he reconnected with the person 2 days later, he shared what he thought was said and asked if he got that right. He also asked a few questions on the additional things he wanted to know. He stayed in listening mode and tried to hear what was being shared. Towards the end of the conversation, he shared that he had felt attacked because assumptions were made, rather than asking a question. It took a few conversations, but Jamie was able to get to resolution with this person, and he learned a lot about them along the way.
3. What are some of the skills Jamie used in this scenario?
