WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

by: Kelsy Colwell

In 2019, in collaboration with Bishop Kelly Lineberry, we began research on how PNWPCG ministers felt

about conflict, conflict engagement, and conflict resolution.  We looked at the demographics of our ministers and conducted interviews, focus-groups, and surveys.  During this work we discovered exciting strengths,

unexpected gaps, willing hearts, and some unhealthy underlying perspectives.

We went deeper and spent several months reading research studies on these topics.

We especially looked for anything we could find involving faith-based leaders.  We gained insight on concepts

and strategies that consistently produced positive outcomes.  We also identified approaches that resulted

in consistently risky outcomes.  One of the biggest surprises in this stage of research was the

significant lack of studies done on these topics with faith-based leaders.

This training was released in 2021 as a culmination of this research.  Thank you to everyone who

participated in interviews, focus-groups, and surveys. Your transparency was so valuable!

Your voices can be heard in the themes of these lessons.
